1) Having 2 cdroms on the same IDE may generate problems (http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdrecord.html).
2) Remember to put append="hdx=ide-scsi" in your lilo.conf 3) Change #define WAIT_CMD (10*HZ) to #define WAIT_CMD (1000*HZ) in the file /usr/src/linux/include/ide.h. Otherwise you will get timeout errors while fixating. 4) Disable "scan all luns" on the kernel. I get the same message from xcdroast so I do not use it.
