Yes - that is definitly possible. However you have to remember to compile support into your kernel, or compile as a module. Check the docs for the correct command-line options, and be sure that you have a fairly recent version. Naturally this will use some ram and some CPU time, but this would only affect you if you're running on a bm<20 machine :)
