The Hardware-HOWTO at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO-19.html#ss19.1 doesn't mention Kensington per say, but it does claim that PC/2 mice are supported. Look in the "Section 'Pointer" area of your /etc/X11/XF86Config file. What are the relevant lines there (particularly "Protocol" and "Device")? I believe the protocol needs to be "ps2" and the device needs to be "/dev/psaux".
