Hello, It is indeed possible to run the Linux operating system as well as Windows. It involves installing Windows first and then Linux. This process called "dual-booting", is what many people use to work with Linux and play with Windows. Linux comes with the Linux Loader or LILO, which will allow you to switch between either OS. If Windows is already installed, use a program such as Partition Magic to give Linux enough unpartitioned space. Since you are interested in developing for the Linux operatins system, you will need more space, because you will need to install a number of development headers and libraries. Give Linux as much space as you can afford !!! I would say a minimum of 1Gig. This will give you adequate breathing room, to install whatever you want.
Another idea would be to get yourself a distro which can be installed on a windows partition such as WinLinux or Corel Linux. Although that's not as good. Hope that can get you started.
