You don't mention whether you are using potato, slink, or woody, but my comment applies regardless. Samba 2.0.6 and below have current issues with Win2000 computers. Samba 2.0.7 due out Real Soon Now will have fixed most, if not all, of the problems. Short answer is wait until 2.0.7 is released and has a Debian package. Long answer is to download 2.0.7pre3 from www.samba.org and compile it yourself. It may be pre-release code, but it should work.
