Yes, Debian offers a number of different GUI environments. However the fundamental interface is text-based, and you will probably want to learn about it as well. It sounds as if you have very little Unix/Linux background. I'd strongly recommend you look at an introductory book such as "Running Linux" or "Learning Debian GNU/Linux", both published by O'Reilly, the latter available online at their website (http://www.ora.com/).
