Trying to boot from CD 1 of the 4-CD "official" 2.1r2, I get a panic:

Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 01:00

System is an ASUS [EMAIL PROTECTED] motherboard with two 333MHz PIIs, 12Gb
Quantum Bigfoot UDMA HD as master and generic ATAPI CD as slave
on the first IDE channel, nothing on the second; a Riva 128 AGP
video card with 4Mb, and two DEC 21041 Tulip PCI ethernet cards.

This same hardware was previously running redhat, and before that
freebsd.

Any clues what's going on here, or how to work around this to
get debian to install, greatly appreciated.
