This isn't for me, it's for some children who don't have a computer and I, like much of the world don't have the luxury of 300 Mhz processors and have to get by as best I can. I don't have the equipment and the worstations are going to have to be standalone.
I don't agree with your pronouncement on the feasibility of X other than the fact that it runs slower on slower machines. I've seen it run on 486s plenty of times before. It sounds like you are possibly new to Linux and accustomed to using higher end machines, not having thoroughly explored the capabilities of the operating system. --- aphro <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > even if he could get XF86 setup for EGA(maybe he > can...) i dont think it > would run worth a shit, its better to leave a > machine like that in console > mode. if you want X, install vncserver and run X > apps from remote. i > would avoid X on anything less then 200Mhz 48MB (any > system i install now > is 350MHz 64MB+) > > nate > > On Tue, 22 Feb 2000, Eric Hagglund wrote: > > eahagg >Can anyone help with this or at least tell > me if it's > eahagg >not feasible? > eahagg > > eahagg >--- Eric Hagglund <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > eahagg >> Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2000 07:40:20 -0800 > (PST) > eahagg >> From: Eric Hagglund <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > eahagg >> Subject: Configuring x-windows for EGA > eahagg >> To: Debian User Lists User Lists > eahagg >> <debian-user@lists.debian.org> > eahagg >> > eahagg >> I'm trying to get a 486dx set up with > X-windows.
