Hello, I discovered some things, that I'd like to pass on, in case anyone else ever tries to move a boot floppy (system) to a hard drive partition. (Such as the systems included with zdisk and DLX)
The /etc/mtab file must be empty. This is what was confusing my system as described in my earlier posts. I changed the lilo.conf entry from "read-only" to "read-write". I still need to investigate the details of running fsck, at boot, and then remounting read/write, but for now I can live with the warnings regarding an unchecked root filesystem.
