I think I remember that your alias for mailman was wrong - you need to have the full path to the executable, so it has to start with a '/', like so: "|/var/lib/mailman/mail/wrapper post _listname_"
For your problm with 'unknown user', you'll need to tell exim some
things about mailman. Put this in exim.conf:
