Hmmm .... I'm not an expert on configuring network cards :( Perhaps your ethernet card needs some parameters. Perhaps you can remember how the module was configured, perhaps you find some information in the files stored in /etc/modutils/. When your ethernet driver needs some parameters, you have to fiedle around with the append command in /etc/lilo.conf (see manpage) and add some bootparameters (man bootparam, search for the section 'ETHERNET DEVICES').
