I am a newcomer to this but have been through a successful install recently and can offer the following as advice.
When you installed Debian you should have at some point been offered a list of driver options. I have a PS2 mouse and when I went through i chose a PS/2 mouse driver and my mouse got setup on dev/psaux and the program politely advised me this. Your mouse is either a) Not recognised by the system at all b) On another device than the one the X configuration file thinks it is. c) Something else is happening that I don't understand. My recommendation is that you go back through the install setting up the appropriate driver and then refer to it in the configuration program. I am a very new person to this and others may offer better advice. Best Regards Dave Boyle http://members.aol.com/drblonuk/main.htm
