Hi all,

I read a thread a little earlier where the postor (is it postER or
postOR?) wants to download all the required files to install X. He
wanted to know what files to download. That prompted me to search
for an answer.

I poked around, and the closest thing I could find that would give
the dependencies for a given package is:

  # apt-cache depends <package>

but this only seems to display the packages that <package> depends
on directly. Is there a way (and how do you do it) of getting a
(recursive?) list of every package that <package> depends on? Or
could it be said that at some point all packages depend on each
other?

Maybe I just answered my own question. Can anyone shed any light on
this for me?

TIA
