A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far way, someone said... > How could I use Samba with Win98? > > I installed the samba package and tried to access \\192.168.1.1\homes. > I cannot enter a username only a password. How could I access my > homedir?
The Samba server needs to be set to use share level security, which isn't the default. User level security is - which is where you're having the problem. With share level security, you simply need to enter a password that is valid for any user on the Linux system; you can also control which passwords will work. I can email you an example if you need it. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Phil Brutsche [EMAIL PROTECTED] "There are two things that are infinite; Human stupidity and the universe.
