Hi,

I'm sure I sent this message to the list, but it hasn't shown as yet:

I tried to install perl5 from potato, but I couldn't (and now all the
perl stuff is messed up). First, I tried to
`dpkg -i perl-5.005_5.005.03-4.deb', but it requires
perl-5.005-base_5.005.03-4.deb and conflicts with the previous perl
version, so I went to purge the latest and install the former.

Guess... `dpkg --purge perl' won't work, as many packages depend on it.
I even gave dselect a try for uninstalling.

Right now I have a fine mess with my installation:

h0rus:~# dpkg -l perl*

And these are the packages I downloaded to install:

perl-5.005-suid_5.005.03-4.deb perlsgml_97.09.18-3.deb

How can I have Perl5 upgraded and sort out the current mess?

TIA,
