 Try running "locate lilo.conf" and that should find it. Actually, it should be
exactly at  /etc/lilo.conf, so if you do "vi /etc/lilo.conf" as root you should
find it. The file is created during your installation, if you said you wanted to
install the linux loader. You can look up the man page on lilo.conf for details
on the various options at boot, including the "append" statement.

Still confused about the location of the file.. did a find file on *.conf... ??
No files found not familiar with etc/lilo.conf, is this something specific added
when an HP 4C ScanJet is installed?

  You need to add this line yourself. I added this to my /etc/lilo.conf file. It

  The scanner (HP 4c) id was set to "2". When I booted with the scanner off, and
  entered the "echo" line you suggested, the scanner mounted and I was able to
  access it.  Hmmm.  My lilo.conf forced recognition with
  "append=aha152x=0x140,9,2" so I tried changing the scsi id from 2 to 3 in the
  append line and rebooted. The scanner was detected fine, and only at scsi id
2.
  Dmesg showed  "scsi generic sga at scsi0, channel 0, id 2, lun 0".

  It works, I'm happy, but I don't understand the behavior. Any ideas?
