Just recently upgraded glibc2.1 and others. Just now I tried to exit from tty1 and got the following:
$ exit logout /sbin/getty: error in loading shared libraries: /lib/libc.so.6: symbol _dl_origin_patt(, version GLIBC_2.1.1 not defined in file ld-linux.so.2 with link time reference INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: dissabled for 5 minutes I waited but nothing happened. An attempt to login on tty3 gave me the same error mixed with some stack errors. tty2 was locked and couldn't type anything, and ctrl+alt+del didn't work. Then I had to manually reboot, and gave me the usual errors for quitting without unmounting partitions, and finally got stack at: Cleaning: /tmp/ /var/lock /var/run I had to manually reboot again, but it wouldn't restart: system_halted So, I halted the system, and after a while tried to boot again. Ran manually e2fsck on /dev/hda10 (/usr/local), but didn't fix anything, so I went on running e2fsck on another two partitions with errors, and then again on /dev/hda10 (fixed now). Pretty scary this time... what's going on? p.d. if needed, I can send a list of upgraded items and libraries with glibc2.1, and a log with everything installed (dpkg -l)... btw, I haven't upgraded the kernel as yet, and am still using 2.0.36 TIA -- Horacio Anno MMDCCLII ad Urbe condita [EMAIL PROTECTED] Valencia - ESPAÑA -------------------------------------------------------------------- Key fingerprint = F4EE AE5E 2F01 0DB3 62F2 A9F4 AD31 7093 4233 7AE6
