Do you mean the virtual consoles which you can flip between with Alt-F2 and so on? If so, these are just device files -- /dev/tty1, /dev/tty2, etc. As root, try something like this: echo hello, world >/dev/tty6 -- Greg Wooledge | "Truth belongs to everybody."
