My favorite is lftp, another command line ftp. My favorite usage involves mirroring, but it allows scripting and background downloads. Hmm. Has bookmarks. As far as continuing to download after a failed connection auto-magicaly: there's this in the man page: ftp:max-retries (number) the maximum number of sequential retries of an operation without success.
