From what I've seen, they've done a good job of reaching this goal. Are you looking for free documentation or are you looking for a book to buy? When I used to work in the Motif business, we always kept the O'Reilly motif books handy. There are probably 3 books that you'll want, but they're all pretty expensive. You'll want the X Toolkit Intrinsics Reference Manual (or the Xt manual, or whatever the exact title was). This is very important since Motif is built on Xt and you use Xt calls to do much of the manipulation of widget resources. You'll also want the Motif Reference Manual and the Motif Programmer's Guide. I suppose that if you want only one of those books, it should be the Motif Programmer's Guide. It's more of a tutorial type book. YOu can use the man pages for different Motif and Xt functions in place of the reference books.
