There's a few steps in there that you can't do as a non-maintainer (e.g. uploading to master), but you will end up with a perfectly valid deb. Also, if there's a package of a similar program (for example, all CPAN perl libraries are extremely similar when it comes to packaging), you could look to it as an example while you follow the steps on the page above. If you actually want to become a developer, read http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/developers-reference/ - -- finger for PGP public key. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBN8Y1xb7M/9WKZLW5AQG5wgP9E49Ywt99p3tHLKFmr/MUa+GjWkhD3uty bi/PVu41oFCQiPvVOe3bZiEuP8HBVJZFB0Ks3VFP95cSHjYiV6v9yqtCiI6d3yDM 2zltspaFWtkfbnYwg23/Z5KnIBV2Lcve02bfv5Blilrh39bVvbrCzvRxDNnNCkA2 w19wAtJnmcI= =gXIz -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
