Hi all, I have this old notebook (no NIC or CD-ROM drive) that I'd like to install Debian on. A floppy install is out of the question, and I don't have a dial-up account either, so a modem-install is a no-go too.
So I was perusing the various articles on the LG homepage, and I find one that walks one through a PLIP setup. Cool! So I go through the motions. I also compile my kernel with lp and plip as modules (I have two parallel ports though). But I get an error on booting (one of those SIOD-whatever errors), but I forgot to reset my /etc/issue (which is set to clear the screen) so I couln't write it down. When I run modconf and try to install the plip module it just hangs there. Has anyone else taken a look at the LG article, gotten plip to work, or know of any plip resources?
