Is the correct module being loaded when you insert the card?  I had to
create an entry in /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts to get cardmgr to load the
proper modules when the card was inserted.

Try running iwconfig with no arguments.  Your wireless card should show
up as one of the entries.  If it doesn't, the modules probably aren't
being loaded properly.
