Well, I got it to boot by running LILO again. The reason I didn't in the first place is because of this line in the installation instructions:
"Your new kernel-image-2.0.36 package is also clever enough to automatically use lilo to update the kernel image information allowing you to boot, so there's no need to re-run lilo." That was not true in my case. Is this a bug in the documentation? Michael
