Dear Christian, ssh supports something called "secure copy". The command is scp and it comes together with ssh. It is a pain to use it, but this is the only thing I can think of.
Maybe, however, you want "virtual private network". If you install this on both sides, all your regular tcp-applications become secure and you can use regular telnet, ftp, whatever... anything.
