oops. I spoke too soon. it did convert the file to .wav for me after 'play' finished I guess it put itself in the background &, anxious to try it out, I was thrown off by the prompt that was returned to me. playing the file before the process finished, though, proved to be a really bad idea.. if that's what it was that caused this.. this is the 5th or 6th time I've tried to send this message. up til now I've been using mozilla, now I'm trying sylpheed, each time before mozilla ate up 98% cpu & gradually more+more memory... 1st I tried killing everything I dared, then logout& restart x, then ctrl-alt-del reboot, & finally `shutdown -h now`.. no matter, mozilla seems to be screwed for mail hopefully sylpheed works... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
