The vsync and hsync rates for your monitor 'should' be availible from either the manufacturer or one of the monitor databases on the net. (There are some, I've dealt with questions about monitors before). The video card can be selected from the database in X. For the modes take a look at my page (members.tripod.com/AnSIv), I got a small explanation there how to deal with modes. One thing you really want to be sure upon is hsync/vsync rates. You don't want to guess those, because htere is a risk to fry something. I have S3 Virge/DX card with a 15" monitor. The best I could do was 1280x1024...it's pretty nice. So, contact the manufacturer/look on the net/check the X docs, for hsync/vsync rates. Then you can get the most out of the card. You might need to use xvidtune to adjust the screen at higher resolutions, though. Andrew --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrei S.
