Hi all, I'm trying to make a little network at home: PII400-486DX2/66 (as server).
The problem is from the PII to the 486: if I try to make a telnet or a ftp from the PII, it takes 1min15 to the process to appear on a 'top' listing on the 486, and the whole time between typing 'telnet (or ftp) 192.168.1.1' and having the loggin on the screen from the 486 is 2min30 (stuck @ "Character Escape '^]', no ctrl-c is possible). On the other side, these processes takes a second. I spent a part of the night on it, but still the same. Ping, in both directions are corrects: AVG is 1.2ms (30 feet cable) Kernel on PII is 2.2.5 (for SB live :((), and 2.2.7 on 486. PII has 128MB ram, 27GB HDs, 3*127MB swap, REALTEK 8029 PCI netcard = NE2000 486 has 8MB ram, 124MB HD, 8MB swap, 2 SMC ISA 83c795 netcards = SMC-ultra No problem in both side about netcard detection and setup. Using 'inetd' & 'telnetd' both side Any suggestion/solution will be welcomed.
