hi, i'm the one who just hosed his system, and the latest problem is getting a /etc/vga/libvga.config file to install.
for some reason, the whole /etc/vga directory was gone after the hosing, so I do as I did for all packages that were partially stuffed: dpkg --force-depends -r svgalibg1 apt-get -f install svgalibg1 now this worked for everything except that the result from dpkg's install is: (Reading database ... 36997 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking svgalibg1 (from svgalibg1_1.3.0.19980916-1.deb) ... Setting up svgalibg1 (1.3.0.19980916-1) ... ldconfig: warning: can't open /usr/lib/libvga.so.1 (No such file or directory), skipping ldconfig: warning: can't open /usr/lib/libvgagl.so.1 (No such file or directory), skipping now this is weird as these libraries do (now) exist, but the /etc/vga directory has only one file in it: libvga.et6000 ... there should be a whole pile of these things! hope someone can help, Paul
