(e.g. to avoid waste of paper, save forests I use a2ps 'with' magicfilter but not 'in' it. I'm not sure of what you mean here. I have no reference to a2ps in my /etc/printcap file. > ... and get nicer presentation of plain text ...) > > If so, how could the filename and username > be printed in the a2ps formatted page? > I have setup the /etc/a2ps.cfg to always print at 2 pages side by side per sheet. The filename, date/time and user are printed on each page. Setting up the cfg file lets me do just a2p2 filename, to acomplish the above results. Also a2ps -4 filename will print 4 pages per sheet with the info you desire. > I tried using > > default pipe /usr/bin/a2ps -o - > > but I obtain "stdin" for file name and "lp" for user ("Printed > by .."). > > Further, why are blank pages fed between two prints, > if more than one file is given as input? I don't get any blank pages between jobs so it must be something in the a2ps.cfg. Or if you get blanks between pages printed usimg lpr filename, I would think a problem in your /etc/printcap. > > Cheers, HTH -- Hardware, n.: The parts of a computer system that can be kicked. _______________________________________________________ Wayne T.
