Actually, it is not X but glibc2.1
Netscape must be using some internal libc things, that are no longer
present in glibc2.1
And as there is no sourcecode available for netscape, we have to wait
for netscape to have mercy and fix the bug. Maybe you could write a
mail and bug them.
I also encounter the errors you describe.
You could install the libc5 version of communicator (tarball from
their server). Maybe one could cludge something with ld_preload, but I
don't know if this will work.
