No message. CM works fine.

The problem is just that CM is not accessible by X; so when dvips
converts the .dvi file, the fonts don't get included, so that when the
.ps file displayed by gv, the font gets replaced (displayed wrongly; ie:
with jaggies, uneven spaces).

It is solved. dvips has a "-V" flag to include the fonts in the .ps
files.
