Neither do I, but you are not alone. A friend failed to install Debian 2.1 from my CD set last weekend with the same problem. I only upgraded using the CD set, so didn't have a problem. I can successfully do: $ tar ztf /cdrom/dists/slink/main/disks-i386/2.1.8-1999-02-22/base2_1.tgz so I think the file is _not_ corrupt. (For what it's worth, I've had the _same_ problem once installing hamm!)
