Does the /tmp-dir have the right permissions? They sometimes change if you unpack a tar-file without subdirs as root. /tmp must be like this $ ls -la /tmp/ total 25 drwxrwxrwt 6 root root 3072 Apr 9 15:11 . drwxr-xr-x 20 root root 1024 Oct 15 12:07 ..
