4x ? maybe, but I never heard of it. I have 2x SCSI and I regularly burn 2,3 CD in a row without rebooting or powering down. Even for IDE I kinda doubt it. If you have to, it should be considered defective, IMHO. Even a freshly burned CD is barely worm to touch.
