I wnated to install some new packages, so I ran the Update option on dselect.
I then selected the package and ran install. Dselect then tries to update
seemingly every package on my system, which is fine with me (though I had
to delete some stuff to make room). The trouble is that dpkg processes the
files and concludes with
dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0024' near line 1:
 newline in field name '#padding'
DPKG ERROR

The file referenced consists of 57 lines, all of which are: #padding
Any clues appreciated!
