If I do xrdb -merge ... manually the resources are loaded. The only thing I can think of here is that KDE's krdb program is overwriting your resources when it runs. It is run in the startkde script...Somewhere in the kde control panels there's a toggle button where you can tell it not ot apply KDE colors and things to non-KDE apps. Try turning this off and see if your resource file works. > 2) kdm has a way to select the windowing environment and it seems that it > should remember the user's last session, but it isn't for me. Well, you can't use a ~/.xsession file and kdm sessions together (I don't think...maybe you can set up your .xsession to accept the same parameter as /etc/X11/Xsession). In any case, kdm saves your window manager preferences in ~/.wmrc. When you log in using something other than fvwm2, does the .wmrc file show the session that you chose? I suspect that your .xsession script is firing off fvwm2 or something. If you removed the .xsession script, I bet things would work. noah PGP public key available at http://lynx.dac.neu.edu/home/httpd/n/nmeyerha/mail.html or by 'finger -l [EMAIL PROTECTED]' This message was composed in a 100% Microsoft free environment. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2 iQCVAwUBNvFTPYdCcpBjGWoFAQEhOwP+LXOMj/QcrvxPRcr+9X8WnzTap9ppKv1U Skh9mo5I902btpJoUZ5cWTNNEVUIUFprsh8X2Q6b6X4vCBgi88Y04ziN5PS2zRI7 uxXF3pyXiYZ8N9V2P7t1986CzD0/i+o+P/Pqz52lWD8zJg+n2MYAeEQiRIvCybwz dW5PGoVLF7E= =LtdP -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
