I get the above error after upgrading my vid server to "xserver-xfree86-dri-trunk" for my wee Radeon 9000 pro.
What is displayed, is a grey background & a working mouse pointer, but no KDE
I can startx & KDE as root & am wondering what file where I need to tweak.
Before I upgraded, non-root could run startx & KDE into vesa mode X & yes it look like crap.
