There is no package called "KDE". It is divided up among many packages. You should download and install KDE 1.1 from KDE's ftp site, in any case. It is much improved over 1.0 or whatever version was last included with Debian. The location of it on the ftp server is something like /pub/kde/stable/distributions/binary/debian...or something along those lines. You'll need to download and install at least the kdelibs, kdesupport, and kdebase packages, and whatever packages contain the other KDE things you want (kdeadmin, kdenetwork, etc).
