- -snip- Maybe its not an answer to your question but i found it VERY easy and comfortable to build my kernels (without any problems ever) with the procedure: make menuconfig make dep make modules make-kpkg kernel_image and dpkg -i "resulting-kernel.deb" Neither lilo nor anything else ever f***ed me with that.
