you can see your supported dma options on your drive
        hdparm -iv /dev/hda  | grep dma
        the  *  indicates its current supported dma option

for old style dma
        32+ dmaMode

for ultra-dma mode
        64+ ultraDMAmode

for ata-66, udma4  -->  -X68
for ata-100 udma5  -->  -X69
