There has been a lot of discussion on this subject this month and last month (IIRC). Try searching the Debian list archives - you'll find many different solutions.
As it happens, I have tried every solution as it has been proposed but I still have to reboot to reset the terminal :( Has anyone compiled a FAQ on this or is it time I got up off my lazy backside ? Ivan. P.S. Any screen restoration solutions not previously proposed will be gratefully received - this problem really does detract from my enjoyment of the Linux environment.
