I had a similar problem, though mine was that the cdrom was not detected and the boot process stopped. I solved the problem by downloading the patch (sorry, I don't have the reference --- check in dejanews) for kernel 2.0.35. Subsequently, the problem solved itself by upgrading to 2.1.131 and then 2.2.0. Strangely, the hang-up only happened for me with 2.0.34 and 2.0.35 --- 2.0.33 works fine, too. Hope this helps, Tad
