Okay, thanks. I looked on that page, and on hp.com's webpage (i have a 2.5-year old Pavilion). As i mentioned before, the beeping isn't telling me much -- it is an incessant series of beeps, about one second long each, followed by a pause. HP's webpage (it's using Phoenix BIOS) gives lots of different patterns of beeps, but none matching straight-up incessant beeping -- last time i turned it on, i counted 27 identical beeps before i gave up. i've plugged in everything and reseated everything i can find to reseat. should i fork over the $30 HP wants to give technical support for an out-of-warranty product? should i take it into a shop? thanks again, </nori> -- .~. nori @ sccs.swarthmore.edu /V\ http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/~nori/jnl/ // \\ @ maenad.net /( )\ www.maenad.net ^`~'^ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
