Well, now it works, many thanks to all those who replied. Actually it is very simple when you know how to do it (and I was doing something so stupid I'm ashamed to talk about it :-) ). All I have to do is set my boot disk ID to 1 in the SCSI contoller utility and the disk options in lilo.conf. I was a bit confused because I have three or four kernel images. Now I have to re-install NT which apparently I have scratched.
