Best plan when you're this frustrated is to go back to ground zero. Make sure the following packages from _hamm_ are correctly installed: bin86 binutils gcc libc6-dev ncurses3.4-dev make patch kernel-package kernel-source-2.0.34 Then execute the following commmands: cd /usr/src/linux make menuconfig make-kpkg clean make-kpkg --rev Testkernel.1.0 kernel_image dpkg -i /usr/src/kernel-image-2.0.34_Testkernel.1.0_i386.deb This has _never_ failed me and I've built _many_ kernels on _many_ boxes.
