Are you sure that putting a script in the window- > managers file will work? Mine doesn't seem to. Yes, it will work. Look in your startkde script and make sure that the call to kwm is NOT in the background (i.e. does not have an '&' after it). The way the Xsession scripts work is that when the script terminates (completes), then the X session is killed and the login screen is displayed again. So you need to have one program that is not running in the background, typically the window manager. When the window manager exits, then the script is able to continue and the user is logged out. > > kfm is the file manager. I believe you are saying that you dislike the functions of kfmclient, not kfm. You don't need to use kfmclient if you don't want to. You can use tkdesk or X-Plorer or whatever you want to browse directories and manage your files. I don't think you can get KDE to launch anything other than kfmclient when you click on the icons on your desktop, though. I could be wrong. noah PGP public key available at http://lynx.dac.neu.edu/home/httpd/n/nmeyerha/mail.html or by 'finger -l [EMAIL PROTECTED]' -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2 iQCVAwUBNpq3ModCcpBjGWoFAQHhKwP+MKgVzkgmlThe6XtgHhvu69J+VBPxAt8D ImKgv1ssB0swAjIhOAQEGyneeG1wANxyIGZg6l0pkHxTfwAJ+vnyLsopKTbacbzT IPees+dQPj0Y9RHp63zyocVXWfSJb6iLSvUPOIcnMZgE2wzFBHuOl3TT3BpSqEyx 76pmCfFHevU= =CVPE -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
