i've got woody up and running on one of my linux machines and i'm tinkering with gnome...
gnome-terminal isn't blanking lines properly; when output makes the screen data scroll up (or just browsing around in mutt, for example) residual text from previous lines hangs around where it shouldn't -- and apparently the screen refresh is too intelligent for its own good (at least in this case it doesn't help) since it only redraws the text it knows should be there, and the text that shouldn't, stays. under settings menu -> preferences -> general tab, i see "terminal class" which is "default" and there are no other options in the pull-down menu; on the colors tab under "color scheme" i've tried all four (linux console, color xterm, rxvt, custom) to no effect. in which direction should i travel to find the clue? -- I use Debian/GNU Linux version 2.2; Linux server 2.2.17 #1 Sun Jun 25 09:24:41 EST 2000 i586 unknown DEBIAN NEWBIE TIP #13 from Will Trillich <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : How can you generate RANDOM EMAIL SIGNATURES? Many email clients have this feature -- for mutt, simply declare in your ~/.muttrc file something like send-hook debian- "set signature='~/.signature-debian |'" (note the quoted value ends with a 'pipe|' symbol) Then whenever you send email to any debian-* address, it'll append the output from your script, instead of appending a static file.
