dpkg runs on every hardware that debian suports -- alpha, arm, intel, powerpc, sparc, m68k. I feel like I left one out. Large parts of dpkg use perl so porting is not a big issue. dpkg does not run well on non-Debian systems. There are issues and lots of code.
