Yes, ppp will rewrite your resolv.conf much like dhclient will. That's because when your network is dynamic, you can't possibly know ahead of time what rules should be used for domain name resolution. Instead a server on the network (the other side of the PPP link or the dhcp server) will tell your machine what it should use. You can edit resolv.conf by hand. The format is really simple.
